Society for Women, Chairman Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for

was Member of Rajya Sabha.

Lt.
Gen. J.S. Bawa has been Chief Engineer - Western Command, Director
General Border Roads, Engineer in Chief in the Indian Army,
President of the Indian Road Congress and Institution of Engineers

He has been
Managing Director at Burn Standard.
He has been
the recipient of Param Vashisht Sewa Medal and Ati Vashisht Sewa

Mr Salman Khurshid - Member, The DPS Society since 1985
Mr
Salman Khurshid was Lecturer in Law at Trinity College, Oxford
University. He was an officer
on Special Duty in the Prime Minister,
Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi's
Office. Shri Salman Khurshid has extensive court practice and has worked upon and appeared in various matters in
the Supreme Court of
India.
Shri
Khurshid has authored `At Home In India', `If Winter Comes',
`Beyond
Terrorism'. He has contributed articles to the Hindustan Times,
Illustrated
Weekly,
Probe, India Today, Onlooker and Dainik Jagran and published
several
legal articles in the law journals of the United Kingdom and
India. He has
been
Joint Editor of the Supreme Court Cases Journal.
Shri Salman
Khurshid holds senior positions with several educational, social
organizations and is a very active member and functionary of the
Indian National Congress.
He is involved deeply in education, foreign and minority affairs. |

Dr.
Usha K Luthra has a Ph.D in Medicine, FIAC from the International
Academy of Cytology, USA, FRCPath from the Royal College of
Pathologists, UK and a Diploma in Cytopathology from the
International Board of Cytopathology, USA.
Dr Luthra
is Member, WHO Expert Advisory Panel on Cancer at Geneva, WHO
Committee on Resources and Research at Geneva, the International
Board of Cytopathology of the International Academy of
Cytologists, USA, Laboratory Certification Committee on the
International Academy of Cytology, USA., Terminology Committee
of the International Academy of Cytology USA, General Planning,
Liasion and Strategies Committee of International Academy of
Cytology, USA.
She is
Associate Editor, Acta Cytologica, Journal of the International
Academy of Cytology, USA. She has also been Vice President of the
UICC XVI International Cancer Congress, held in Delhi.
She is
President of Indian Society of Oncology, Indian Academy of
Cytologists and Secretary Indian Academy of Cytologists.
She is a
Fellow, Member of various medical bodies of Cytology, Pathology
and Microbiology in UK, USA and India.

Justice B.N. Kirpal - Member, The DPS Society since 1985
A law graduate from the University of Delhi, Justice Kirpal started
legal practice in 1961.
He was appointed as Central Government Pleader, and as
Additional Standing Counsel and thereafter a Senior Standing
Counsel for the Department of
Income Tax, Delhi.
He was
appointed as a judge of the Delhi High Court and later as Chief
Justice of Gujarat High Court. He was elevated to the Bench of
the Supreme Court of India. He served as Chief Justice of India
until 2002.
Justice
Kirpal has keen interest in education and is closely connected
with
leading educational
institutions in Delhi. |

Mr. V.R. Vaish - Member, The DPS Society since 1986
After
a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Roorkee, Shri
Vaish served in the
Central Engineering Services and held senior positions of Chief Engineer and Secretary, PWD Himachal Pradesh,

Corporation and Advisor
Construction in Bureau of Public Enterprises. He has also worked
as Director- General of
Works in Central Public Work Department.
Mr Vaish
has been Arbitrator in a large number of cases for Public Sector
Undertakings, Public Works Department, DDA, NDMC, MCD etc.
He was
Chairman of Buildings and Works Committee of the IIT Delhi. He has
also
acted as Advisor to DDA. He has been Advisor and Vice-Chairman,
Building Committee of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science,
Patna, and
Vice-President of the Association of Consulting Engineers and
Member of the Governing Body of Indian Council of Arbitration. |

Dr. Montek S. Ahluwalia - Member, The DPS Society since 1986
Dr.
Montek Singh Ahluwalia is the Deputy Chairman of the Planning
Commission,
Government
of
India.
An Economist, Dr.
Ahluwalia joined the World Bank in 1968 and then onwards
worked as
Deputy Division Chief, Public Finance Division at The World Bank, Washington, D.C. He then
became Chief, Income Distribution Division, at
Development Research Centre at
The World Bank, Washington D.C. He was Economic Advisor,
Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, New
Delhi. Later he became
Additional Secretary and thereafter, Special Secretary
to Prime Minister. Also served
as Commerce Secretary, Government of India,
New Delhi, Secretary,
Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance,

Singh Ahluwalia has been a student of Delhi University and

Justice N.N.Goswamy - Member, The DPS Society since 1990
Mr
N. N. Goswamy has practiced at the Punjab High Court and later at
Supreme Court of India. He was
also a judge of the Delhi High Court. He is presently
Senior Standing Counsel of the Government of India
and practicing at the Supreme
Court of India. He is also a member of leading Arbitration Board
of India and also of the International Arbitration Board.

Mr. Ashok Chandra - Member, The DPS Society since 1990
A postgraduate in Mathematics from the University of Allahabad, Mr
Ashok Chandra joined the Indian Administrative Services in 1959.
He served in various capacities in the state of Uttar Pradesh
namely, as Secretary in The Department of Industries and as
Chairman of the State Jal Nigam.
He has
also served as Additional Secretary in the Department of Company
Affairs.
Mr
Ashok Chandra served the Government of India as Secretary in the
Ministry of Food Processing Industry, Ministry of Petroleum and
Natural Gas, Information and Broadcasting and the Department of
Heavy Industry. He was Adviser to the Governor of Uttar Pradesh,
India and also advisor to the Government of Afghanistan.
At present
he is Trustee of Sir Ganga Ram Trust Society which runs the Sir
Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. |

London, Mr Pramod Grower is presently Fellow

He is
also the Founding and Life member of the Institute of Certified

Mr Grower has

was the Representative and local Director of Scandinavian Engineering

over 10 years.
He is

Ms Shovana Narayan - Member, The DPS Society since 1998
Ms
Shovana
Narayan,
MPhil
and
Master's
Diploma
in
Public Administration, IIPA,
Delhi, is one of the recognized legends in the annals of dance
today and a name synonymous with Kathak.
She is a
serving officer of the Indian Accounts and Audits Service and
presently the Deputy Director General, Bharat Sanchar Nigam
Ltd. Department of
Telecommunication, New Delhi.
She has
worked closely with national and internationally
known
western dancers and musicians. She works very closely with
spastic, mentally and physically
handicapped children.
Shovana
Narayan is the author of various articles on issues relating
to
the
world of dance and arts and women's development.
She is the
first dancer to work on philosophical themes on the lives of
contemporary
sages such as Vivekanand, Ramana Maharshi, Ramkrishna Paramhansa
and
Mahatma Gandhi.
Shovana
Narayan is the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Award,

Prof. B.P. Khandelwal has served in responsible capacities in the field of

over two dozen
academic
papers and articles on aspects of elementary, secondary and
higher education,

Mr. Ravi Vira Gupta - Member, The DPS Society since 1998
After
his education at Cambridge University, Mr Ravi Vira Gupta joined
the Indian
Administrative Services in 1962. During his service Mr
Gupta was associated with
various aspects relating to cooperatives as
well as agriculture. He was Registrar of Cooperatives as well as Managing
Director of National Cooperative Development Cooperation. He was
the Managing Director of
the MP Federation of Dairy Cooperatives. He was very
closely associated with the
economic reforms at the level of Additional
Secretary and Secretary in the
Government of India in the Ministries of
Fertilizer, Food and Finance.
He was
also Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and was
associated with many committees and particular mention needs to
be made as regards
to the
Reserve Bank Committee on agriculture credit. He was also
Chairman
of two
Government of India committees relating to small savings.
Mr Gupta is
actively associated with educational and cultural organizations. |

Dr.(Ms) Sharada Nayak - Member, The DPS Society since 1998
Sharada
Nayak was nominated for International Scholarship by the United
Nations Students
Association. Formerly Executive Director of the United States
Educational Foundation in India from
1981 to
1992, she is currently Director of the Educational Resources
Centre and a Consultant to the
Ford Foundation in New Delhi.
She was
Chairperson of the governing body of Lady Irwin College and
Maitreyi College. She has been a consultant for the Connecticut,
Minnesota, Washington and Wisconsin state education departments.
She was a member of the editorial panel to review the Source
Book of Teaching Social Studies, published by UNESCO.
She is a
Member of Centre for Women's Development Studies and editorial
board of the Indian Journal of Gender Studies
Dr Nayak
received the annual award of the Committee for Teaching Asia at
the Association of Asian Studies
for her
outstanding contribution on inter-cultural education. She was also
awarded Annual Service Award in
1991 by The
Council of International Educational Exchange for her contribution
to international education.
In 2002 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in
Humane Letters by St. Lawrence University, Canton,
New York for
her contribution to inter-cultural education.
As Director
and Managing Trustee of the Educational Resource Centre Trust, Dr.
Nayak is currently
engaged in
projects for training college faculty and students in diversity
programs, gender issues, political
awareness
and citizenship for democracy.
She is also
a member of the Seminar on Inter-cultural Learning and Dialogue,
of the International
Association

Admiral
M.M. Chopra worked with the Indian Navy in various

Expert Committee, Re-organization of Personnel, Structure of Armed

Strips Ltd, Steel Strips and Wheels Ltd, Indian Acrylics Ltd,

He holds

Chairman of National Bravery Award Committee and Chairman of Geeta

Mr V.K.Shunglu - Member, The DPS Society since 1998
A postgraduate in History from the University of Delhi, Mr Shunglu
joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1962. Mr Shunglu
worked
as Special
Secretary in the Ministry of Power, and Secretary in the
Departments
of Company Affairs, in the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare and
in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion.
He
was an alternate leader of the Indian Delegation at the
International
Conference on Population held in Cairo.
Mr Shunglu
has worked with Asian Development Bank in Manila and at the
Economic
Development Institute of the World Bank. He also worked as
Comptroller
and Auditor General of India.
He has held
the position of Chairman of the UN Board of Auditors General
and
is currently a member of the UN Panel of External Auditors. He is
a
Member of the Governing Board of International Organization of
Supreme
Audit
Institutions (INTOSAI) and Chairman of INTOSAI Standing
Committee on
EDP Audit. He took over as Secretary General of Asian
Organization of the Supreme Audit Institution.
He
continues to be External Auditor to the World Tourism
Organization,
Madrid, the
International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology,
Trieste and the Organization for Prevention of Chemical Weapons
headquartered
at The Hague. Recently, Mr Shunglu was appointed as the External
Auditor of the International Maritime Organization headquartered
