The designing of a curriculum for a school requires vision. The problems that one faces are:
- How to make effective use of time available in a academic year?
- How to divide the complete course evenly throughout the year?
- How to strike a balance between all extra curricular activities and academic work?
At DPS the curriculum has been designed in a scientific spirit. The study time of the entire year has been divided in two semesters as follows:
First Semester - April - September (96 working days)
Second Semester - October to March (106 working days)
The Syllabi for all the classes has been divided into 18 cycles of 10 days each (approx) with 9 cycles in each semester. The last cycle of each semester is revision cycle.
At the end of each semester an exam will be held to assess and evaluate the student's performance. This evaluation will be 20% of unit tests, 70% of the terminal exam and 10% of internal assessment.
The final result will be calculated taking 50% of each exam. The course of first semester will not be repeated in the second semester for evaluation except class IX where the entire syllabus will be included in the final exam as per ICSE.
